Best practices & mobility journals

In the framework of the GARDENISER ACADEMY mobilities, aspiring and experienced gardeners and gardenisers traveled across Europe—visiting inspiring community and urban gardens in Italy, Austria, Spain, and France. These mobilities provided a unique opportunity for participants to learn, share, and grow together in a multicultural environment, enriching their skills and perspectives on community gardening.

More than simple study trips, these exchanges were immersive learning journeys, fully aligned with the mission of Gardeniser Academy: to professionalise the role of community garden coordinators and the gardens themselves.

Do you want to know everything about their journeys?

In this section, you will find:

  • A selection of 24 good practices and garden stories:
These highlight innovative methods, sustainable practices, and community engagement strategies identified by our participants in the gardens they visited—concrete examples of what makes a garden a social and ecological space.
  • 23 travel diaries documenting the students’ adventures:
These personal reflections capture the spirit of discovery, connection, and learning experienced during the mobility stays. From hands-on gardening techniques to the challenges and rewards of working in multicultural teams, the diaries offer a vivid portrait of what it means to be a gardener or gardeniser in action.

Through these stories and best practices, we aim to inspire others to join the movement, strengthen the community gardening sector, and support the development of inclusive, resilient, and green urban spaces across Europe
